Central Organizing Committee Members

Inauguration Ceremony of Shwedagon Pagoda Replica has came to end, followed by Organizing Committee Gathering and Dismissal. The gathering was held on 17 November 2010 at the venue, Taman Alam Lumbini-Brastagi-North Sumatera-Indonesia. Although not all of the committee members could attend, there are almost 300 who joined the event.

During the event, there are photos slide and video show in the pagoda, including the history of Taman Alam Lumbini photos, since the beginning until the pagoda was accomplished. Followed by lunch at the Taman Alam Lumbini’s Golden Lotus – Healthy Cuisine restaurant. Finally, there are also several photo sessions taking at the pagoda. The Chairman of the Committee congratulate and honored the committee members for their efforts and contribution for the success of the ceremony, from the days before until after the ceremony was finished.

The greatest ceremony in Indonesia, which was held on 30th-31st October 2010 in Taman Alam Lumbini-Brastagi-North Sumatera-Indonesia, has finally came to a success ending. There are 1306 in total numbers of monks and 238 lay people from various countries around the world, they are:

All of the participants representing their own countries gather together inside the hall, which was just right under the Replica Pagoda of Shwedagon. Besides monks, there are also lay people, observers, scholars from foreign countries that contribute to the Buddhist Dhamma Discussion. Thousands of visitors from various provinces of Indonesia also came to witness this historical moment of Indonesia’s Buddhism.

Taman Alam Lumbini, as the host of this great event, proudly received two records from Indonesian Museum of Records: “Puja Ceremony attended by the most number of Bhikkhus” and “The Tallest Shwedagon Pagoda Replica in Indonesia”. This ceremony is also very special because were attended by seven senior monks and Sangharajas from Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka . The committee of Taman Alam Lumbini also felt proud and honored because the Minister of Religious Affair of Indonesia, Mr. H. Suryadharma Ali, attended and gave speech in the opening ceremony.

We wish, with such a great blessing of the numbers of Sangha members from various countries and the Pagoda itself, would bring peace and harmony to Indonesia’s citizens and the world’s.
